Day 1: Mexico City Arrival
On arrival in Mexico City Airport you will be met and privately transferred to your Mexico City hotel for two nights.
Day 2: Mexico City – City Tour & National Anthropology Museum
After breakfast you leave for a full day guided tour of Mexico's historic city centre with visits to the grand square, Zocalo, flanked by Mexico's most significant buildings including The National Palace, Metropolitan Cathedral and a look at the Temple Mayor Aztec archaeological site. There's time for lunch before visiting the world renowned National Anthropology Museum where your expert guide will enhance your experience, paying special attention to the Aztec and Maya rooms. Return to your hotel late afternoon. [B]
Day 3: Mexico City – Teotihuacan & Shrine of Guadalupe
This morning you visit the stunning archaeological zone of Teotihuacan, famous for the world’s 3rd and 4th largest pyramidal structures, the enormous Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. Your guide will illustrate its place in the rich history of Mexico’s pre-Columbian civilizations. The tour also includes a visit to the Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe. [B]
Day 4: Mexico City - Merida
Departing your hotel, you transfer to the airport for the flight from Mexico City to Merida on the Yucatan peninsula. On arrival you transfer and check-in to your hotel. Later this evening you will be picked up for a private tour of the historic centre of Merida, including the main plaza (Zocalo), the Cathedral and Paseo Montejo. [B]
Day 5: Merida – Uxmal and Kabah
Today you are driven to two of Yucatan’s most attractive archaeological sites Uxmal and Kabah. Uxmal has the colossal “Magician’s Pyramids”, intricate “Dove’s Temple” and the grand “Nuns Quadrangle”. You have time to try tasting yucatencan cuisine for lunch (included) before visiting Kabah, famous for its incredibly ornate “Palace of Chaac Masks”. [B, L]
Day 6: Merida - Celestun
This morning you visit Ria Celestun Biosphere Reserve, an enticing spot for all naturalists, but especially for bird watchers with more than 200 species of birds to be observed. Celestun is also a typical fisherman’s village and on a boat tour you can see the quiet Flamingos Lagoon. After the tour you can enjoy lunch at leisure in one of the selected seafood restaurants along the beach. [B]
Day 7: Merida – Chichen Itza with Mayan Cenote – Riviera Maya/Cancun beach
Today is a full day tour of the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and one of the most awe-inspiring sites you are likely to visit. There’s time afterwards to enjoy swimming and relaxing in one the most important Mayan Cenotes of the area (with time for lunch), before heading east to Cancun Airport for your flight home or an optional beach extension at one of our Riviera Maya hotels.
