Day 1: Boston, MA Arrival
On arrival into Logan Intl Airport, Boston, you will be transferred to your hotel for two nights’ stay. During the evening you can meet your Tour Director and receive Tour information but dinner and rest of the evening is your own.
Day 2: Boston City Tour
This morning a City Tour around Boston shows the contrasting historic and modern city sites including the Freedom Trail, Quincy Market and the modern John Hancock Tower. The afternoon is free for you to explore or shop at leisure.
Day 3: Boston – Portland, ME
Departing your hotel after breakfast, the tour takes you along the scenic shoreline of Massachusetts into Maine, stopping at the town of Salem, noted for its 17th century witchcraft trials. Further up the coast are the charming fishing port of Gloucester and the artist colonies of Rockport, Massachusetts and Kennebunkport, Maine. Continue to Portland for overnight.
Day 4: Portland - White Mountains, NH
Begin with a stop at Portland Head Light before heading inland into New Hampshire’s White Mountains to stay overnight. Drive along the scenic Kancamagus Highway, an old Indian Trail cutting through the National Forest to take an aerial tram ride to the summit of Cannon Mountain and admire the splendid views.
Day 5: White Mountains - Green Mountains, VT
Today you travel through the stunning New Hampshire Lakes region, boasting more than 1,300 lakes and location of the popular film “On Golden Pond”. Pass Winnipesaukee and Squam Lakes on the drive to Vermont‘s Green Mountains, stopping at Quechee Gorge. Continue and the quaint town of Woodstock with its wooden covered bridge.
Day 6: Green Mountains - Connecticut River Valley, MA
Head south through the pastoral beauty of Vermont, stopping at Manchester Village’s designer outlet. Continuing south to the Connecticut River Valley you visit a Hancock Shaker Village before your overnight stay.
Day 7: Connecticut River Valley – Newport, RI & Cape Cod, MA
Today you travel to Newport, Rhode Island, the sailing capital of New England. Here, in the late 19th century, America’s wealthiest families had palatial seasonal homes. Tour one of these mansions before driving to Cape Cod for two nights’ stay.
Day 8: Cape Cod, MA
The whole day is at leisure for you to explore Cape Cod; you could opt to take a ferry ride to the island of Martha’s Vineyard, with a sightseeing tour, or take a tour of Cape Cod with a whale-watching cruise (weather permitting).
Day 9: Cape Cod - Boston, MA
Heading back to Boston today, you visit Sandwich, the Cape’s oldest town, and Plimoth Plantation - a living museum illustrating pilgrim era life as it was in 1627. Return to Boston to end your tour at Logan International Airport in the afternoon for your onward/homebound flight.
