Amanpulo Resort is located on the private island of Pamalican, just north of Palawan, set among the Quiniluban group of Cuyo Islands, 360km south-west of Manila, lying along the trading routes from Southern China to Borneo. Seven square kilometres of reef surround the island making this an ideal destination for diving. Beyond are sandbanks and a channel where whales, dolphins and sea cows have been glimpsed. Guests are greeted in Manila and flown by a 19-seat twin-engine plane, landing on the island's private airstrip. The native-style accommodation is exclusive to Amanpulo, the 'casitas' are fashioned after a Philippine 'bahay kubo', a centuries old Southeast Asian rural architecture with steep pitched roofs on timber frames. Pamalican offers a range of scenic settings with dining available by the pool, in the picnic grove or next to a beach bonfire. This is where luxury is defined by its earth-given beauty, where peace embraces its island host.
