No other single country of Africa packs a comparable array of exciting travel themes and spectacular contrasts of scenery. Throw in a pleasant climate, a top-rate infrastructure, excellent golf and other sports, superb 'home-grown' wines and impressive value for money. The great continent's wide skies frame a grandeur of scale and spectacle amid which it is Nature, not Man, that exerts control. And for most visitors, it is Africa's superb wildlife heritage and the thrill of a safari that inspire the most lasting impressions. Did we mention the colourful past (spanning ancient tribal history and the battlefields of the Zulu and Boer Wars) and cultures of today's lively 'Rainbow Nation'? The outstanding shopping in the modern malls of cosmopolitan Cape Town and the bazaars and Zulu craft markets of Durban? And but come explore for yourself. You'll need that extra week!

South Africa Adventure

The biggest 'adventure' opportunity of all here derives from the fantastic gallery of wildlife. A safari is a travel experience like no other - and a South African safari blending the excitement of game-viewing by vehicle or on foot with the ultimate luxury of a private game lodge or camp has no rivals. Discover why South Africa is the adventure capital of the world, why the natural beauty and wildlife will leave you awe-struck, why the friendly people, rich culture and freedom struggle will warm your heart! And there are many more thrills to be had - from whale-watching and shark-diving to bungee-jumping and canoeing.

Nightlife & Party with Locals

Cities like Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban have after-dark entertainments on a par with those of Europe in terms of scale and variety - from buzzing cocktail bars to chic jazz or dance clubs, nightclubs, cinemas and theatres. From Johannesburg you can drive out to Sun City for a cabaret or a spot of discreet gambling.

Gourmet Cuisine & Dining Out

Eating out is excellent value here in an eclectic range of city and resort restaurants. Seafood and curries are staples and the barbecue (the braai) is a way of life. Fans of fine cuisine can enjoy seafood in Cape Town's waterfront restaurants or gourmet fare in Stellenbosch while sipping wines from local vineyards; try Kynsna's famous oysters; chew biltong in a Zulu village; and savour authentic curries in Durban.

World's Best Scuba Dive Sites

The Mozambique Current flowing down South Africa's Indian Ocean coast brings warm tropical water. At Sodwana Bay are the world's most southerly coral reefs, home to many colourful fish and some great nudibranchs. Whale sharks, turtles, dolphins and ragged-tooth sharks are often seen in specific places. Further along the coast the underwater fauna and flora change gradually until, nearer Cape Town, diving is in chilly but beautiful kelp forests.

World Class Golf Courses

In South Africa golfers are blessed for choice - with an ideal climate for spending time out on the fairways under a bright African sun. If you enjoy the challenge of a coastal course, there's a huge range available. If you prefer playing at altitude, then the selection is no less good. Most famous is Sun City's Gary Player Country Club - but there are many other world-class courses that have featured on both the European PGA Tour and the local Sunshine Tour.

Family Holidays

South Africa's outdoors-orientated lifestyle makes it an ideal and exciting venue for children - and there are many family options to most activity themes both on the coasts and in the country. Children will thrill to the African drum and gumboot beat; enjoy the amazing experience of a game drive with a professional Game Ranger in search of the 'Big Five', and the excitement of a bush dinner and overnight at a Game Lodge. Many game park choices are located in kid-friendly, non-malarial areas.
