Indonesia is every holiday-makers dream destination; lush rainforests, staggered rice terraces and seas which stretch for miles. Out of the 17,000 volcanic islands, Bali and Sumba play host to some of the best surfing-waves in the world, and are a perfect place to relax and enjoy the sound of the crashing waves. The island of Lombok is the destination for those after the white, sandy beaches to the south. In-land of each of these islands is a hidden kingdom of intricately designed temples, magnificent waterfalls and natural spirituality.

Indonesian Adventure

Adventure is never in short-supply in the Indonesian Archipelago. You can drive ATVs, try canyoning in northern Bali, surf off most beaches, hike to the top of Mount Rinjani (Lombok) and Mount Batur (Bali), and try mountain biking and river rafting in a host of locations. For something a bit slower, there is horse-riding through paddy fields, as well as a visit to Bali Barat National Park for some local wildlife.

Indonesian Culture

A very prominent aspect throughout Indonesia is their culture. Each of the islands has their own take on style, such as the bells at Borobudur, compared with the Balinese temples found in Ubud. These areas of religious and cultural significance are not to be missed, and many feature additional sights such as spectacular sunrises and the Monkey Forest.

Nightlife & Party with Locals

Bali's pulsating party scene runs nightly in the lively areas of Kuta and Seminyak with trendy bars which are popular with both westerners and locals, such as Potato Head Beach Club. On the island of Lombok things are similar to that of Sanur; quieter with a few lovely local bars and "pubs" providing some entertainment in the form of live music. Since these towns are popular with backpackers, be expected to be invited to 'jungle parties'.

Gourmet Cuisine & Dining Out

Indonesian cuisine is a rich mix of spices and methods of preparation, depending on your geographical location. Like the rest of Southeast Asia, dishes are rice or noddle-based, but also full of flavour and vegetables. As you may expect, Bali now serves very healthy and vegan meals, such as smoothie bowls and vegan, gluten-free burgers. These, along with alternatives such as Thai, Chinese and Western dishes, are also available at hotels. The Jimbaran area is noted for its seafood outlets.

World's Best Scuba Dive Sites

The diverse marine like and superb visibility, paired with dramatic drop-offs makes diving in Indonesia one of the best places in the world. The 'Holy Grail' is considered to be Raja Ampat, however areas surrounding the Gili Islands and the Badung strait are ideal for both experienced and beginners. With hundreds of Dive Centres dotted across the islands, you will spoilt if you're looking to do a diving certificate, but do always check credentials. Other dive areas for those who are more experienced include Nusa Penida Island (strong currents), Tulamben, Cemeluk and Mejangan.
