About the Cybele Forest Lodge and Health Spa
Situated approximately 35-minutes from Kruger Mpumalanga Airport or 4 hours from Johannesburg, Cybele provides the perfect hideaway resort either before or after your safari in the Kruger National Park. It is the founder member of the Relais & Chateaux chain in South Africa. Cybele provides 12 cottages and suites with cosy log fireplaces, air-conditioning, bath & separate shower and private gardens; 6 of which have private heated pools. Delicious meals and Cape wines can be enjoyed in the renowned candlelit restaurant or in the garden. Guests can also relax at the Spa in the Forest, the heart of which is a tranquil Zen garden. Activities at the lodge include a fitness centre, forest trails, hot-air ballooning, helicopter trips, local touring, mountain biking, hiking and horse-back riding.

Courtyard Suite
- The Courtyard Suite features a bedroom with queen-size bed, en-suite bathroom with separate shower and double basins. Bedroom doors open onto a private patio and garden with its own heated swimming pool and sun beds. The spacious sitting room with underfloor heating in lounge and bathroom features a cosy log fireplace, Hi-Fi sound system, selection of CDs and book tapes, iron and ironing board.
Forest Suite
- Separate from other accommodation, the Forest Suite offers superb views over the mountains, forests and meadows. The Forest Suite features an entrance hall with guest restroom, a spacious sitting/dining room with 32-inch flat-screen LCD television, Home Theatre Entertainment system, and cosy fireplace. The bedroom features an extra length king-size bed with en-suite bathroom including a freestanding bathtub, double basins, and large inside shower. Additional amenities include mini-bar, central music control, cordless portable telephone, overhead fan and air-conditioning. The Forest Suite has underfloor heating throughout. A large walled garden with sun beds, large umbrella, tables and chairs features a private heated swimming pool with water cascading over rocks together with a romantic shower. The lavish personalised Garden Cottage includes cosy log fireplace, twin or double bed, en-suite bathroom with heated floor and double basins, and sitting room. All rooms have a private garden with sun beds, umbrella, table & chairs; some feature a romantic outdoor shower.

- Luxury Cottages feature a combined bedroom with king-size or twin beds and sitting room, cosy log or gas fireplace, 29-inch flat-screen television, CD/DVD-player, digital safe, cordless telephone and overhead fan. Cottage No. 3 features an attractive bay window together with an in-room dining table. The attractive bathroom features a freestanding bath (Cottage No. 3), double basins, and inside shower. Some cottages incorporate a romantic outside courtyard shower. Underfloor heating is provided throughout the cottage which also features a walled garden with sun beds, umbrella, table & chairs.

Number 14 Paddock Suite
- If total privacy is what you are looking for together with additional privileges, then Number 14 Paddock Suite is for you. Situated with a stunning view over the mountains, forests and meadows, this spacious thatched suite offers great comfort and the ultimate in luxury accommodation. This exceptional thatched suite has a main bedroom (with fireplace), and bathroom with Jacuzzi bath, and double basins, leading onto a walled garden with hot and cold shower. There is a large sitting room, which also has its own fireplace. Number 14 Paddock Suite has underfloor heating throughout. Upstairs is a balcony overlooking the Sitting Room that can accommodate two extra (single) beds. A spare bathroom with basin, lavatory, shower and cupboards is located off the sitting room. The bedroom and sitting room look out onto a wide terrace equipped with tables, chairs and a large umbrella.
Paddock Suite
- If total privacy is what you are looking for, try one of the Paddock Suites. Situated with a stunning view over the mountains, forests and meadows, these spacious thatched suites offer great comfort and the ultimate in luxury accommodation. Paddock Suites have a main bedroom (with fireplace), and bathroom en-suite, with double basins, leading onto a private courtyard with hot and cold shower. There is a large sitting room, which also has its own fireplace. Most of the suites have underfloor heating throughout. Upstairs is a balcony overlooking the sitting room which can accommodate a third (No: 10) and forth person (No: 11, 12 and 14) in single beds. A spare bathroom with basin, lavatory, shower and cupboards is located off the sitting room.

The Lodge is a charming old farmhouse with a wide verandah where you can sip sundowners whilst looking out over the magnificent gardens. Let the world slip away as you watch the monkeys cavorting in the giant Turpentine Trees. Take in the cool violet of the Jacaranda, the shocking pink of the Tibouchina and the scarlet umbrella of the African Flame Tree. Or visit the Bar to enjoy a drink or a special cocktail before sampling the Lodge's legendary cuisine.

Cybele Forest Lodge offers a superb health and beauty spa - guests at Cybele are now able to indulge in a full range of treatments at this world-famous forest hideaway. Highly experienced staff has designed a wide range of programmes and treatments to relax the body and enrich the soul. On entering the spa you will find yourself in a completely private and peaceful Zen courtyard, where lemon trees and mint bushes gently scent the air. The Koi fish gliding effortlessly through the pond water emphasises the tranquillity and calm of the spa.
The treatment rooms have been designed with generous space in mind, and all the fittings and equipment are of the highest quality. The spa comprises three treatment rooms, one of which is a double treatment room, a new hydrotherapy room, steam room, sauna and spacious showers - including two outside showers in private courtyards. An additional feature of the spa is a large open-air Jacuzzi bath - which has been fashioned out of natural materials and is enclosed in yet another private-walled courtyard. The food at Cybele is supervised by internationally experienced chefs and could be described as classic French combined with traditional English. Naturally, only the best and the freshest of ingredients are used. No expense is spared in the preparation of the food, which has been acclaimed on numerous occasions by guests and journalists from all over the world, as amongst the best on offer in Southern Africa. The Lodge offers a full buffet breakfast including seasonal fresh and poached fruits, home-baked muesli, ham, cheeses, home-made scones, croissants, muffins and preserves, freshly squeezed juices followed by a traditional English breakfast, to order, incorporating, for example, dishes such as Egg Benedict, kippers, etc. A Table d'Hote dinner menu is presented every evening and you may choose to dine between 6:30 and 9:00 pm in the main house. The dinner menu offers diners a well-selected choice of soups, starters, main courses, side dishes, desserts and cheeses to satisfy all palates. Lunch is a Table d' Hote affair, served in the garden under the trees, in the dining room or in the privacy of your room.
